►Senate relocated


Within the framework of the ongoing rehabilitation of the 33 years old Yaounde Conference Center, the Senate of Cameroon has been transferred to the Head Office of the Public Contract regulatory board in Yaoundé. Officials of the Senate say ample information on the relocation of the insitution will be made public in the days ahead.

►Douala Gynecology, Obstetric and Pediatric hospital operational
The Gynecology, Obstetric and Pediatric hospital in Douala is ready to receive patients.


Healthcare in this hospital will focus on mothers and their children. This announcement was made public by the Minister for Public Health Andre Mama Fouda in Douala yesterday August 25, 2015 during the 9th pilot committee meeting for the construction and equipment of the hospital. Consultations in the hospital have begun.

►Ghost workers hunted
Over 10,000 state workers are expected to show proof that they are effectively serving the state. The names of the concerned workers have been pasted at the ministry of public service and administrative reform in Yaoundé. This is part of efforts to clean the state payroll following rising concerns that they may be ghost workers defrauding the state on daily basis by earning fictitious salaries.

►700 million FCFA for FECAFOOT elections
The President of the Normalisation Committee of FECAFOOT, Prof Joseph Owona has announced that the upcoming elections will be the most expensive in the federation. He disclosed that the elections will cost about FCFA 700 million. He assured the public that the elections will be transparent.

►Anti-corruption fight in Nigeria.



Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno to set up an investigation committee on the procurement of hardware and ammunition in the Armed Forces since 2007. The investigation covers the period in office of late President Umar Yar’Adua (2007 to 2010) and that of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (2010 to 2015).

►South Korea offers FCFA 2 billion to Cameroon.



The South Korean Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Lim Jae-Hoon, has announced his country’s willingness to donate FCFA 2 billion for the training of Cameroonian experts in the area of renewable energies and digital security. This donation comes on the hills of the inauguration of Cameroon’s first emergency medical centre in Yaoundé, constructed and equipped by South Korea.

► Robert Mugabe booed in parliament
Zimbabwean, President Robert Mugabe was jeered by opposition MPs as he delivered his state of the nation address in parliament yesterday August 25, 2015. The president was repeatedly drowned out as he delivered one of the shortest State of the nation speeches, lasting less than 30 minutes. The opposition MPs sang protest songs against his 10-point plan to solve the country's economic crisis. More than 20,000 people have lost their jobs in the past seven weeks.
