►President Paul Biya to preside over national agriculture investment plan
Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will organize a business meeting to raise funds for the national agriculture investment plan from the 14th - 16th September 2015 at the Yaoundé Hilton. The event will hold under the distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic. This was revealed yesterday September 1, 2015 in Yaoundé by the Secretary General in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development who doubles as the President of the multi sectoral team put in place for the detailed programme for the development of agriculture in Africa. He said the funds collected during the business meeting will be used for investment in the agricultural sector.
►New organizational chart for CRTV
After meeting for two days, board members of the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) have endowed the corporation with a new organization chart. Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting late last night, the board chair who doubles as Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting since the right people have been appointed to the different post of responsibility to enable the CRTV to make a smooth switch from analog to digital broadcasting.
►FAO boss in Cameroon on the invitation of the President
On the invitation of President Paul Biya, the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization Mr Jose Graziano da Silva today September 2, 2015 begins an official visit to Cameroon. During the three day visit the FAO boss will meet with several government ministers, sign a partnership agreement and grant audiences to civil society leaders and farmers organizations. He will grant a press conference before his visit ends on Saturday September 5, 2015

►National Institute of Youth and Sports graduates 146 students
Some 146 students have graduated from the National Institute of Youth and Sports with a call on them to avoid unorthodox professional practices. Speaking during the graduation ceremony today September 2, 2015, the Minister for Sports and Physical Education Adoum Garoua praised the laureates for their outstanding performances and urged them to remain committed.

►UN criticizes Chad over executions by firing squad
The United Nations has criticized Chad’s execution of 10 suspected Boko Haram militants by a firing squad. Ten people were executed by a firing squad in the Chadian capital of N’Djamena on Saturday after being sentenced to death under the Central African country’s new anti-terrorism law adopted by Chad’s parliament on July 30, 2015. This is the first use of the death penalty in the country since 2003.

►19 AU Soldiers Killed in Somali Al-Shabab Attack
Al-Shabab militants assaulted an African Union base in southern Somalia Tuesday, killing at least 19 soldiers and reportedly taking others hostage. The death toll was provided by a high-ranking Somali official who told reporters that a similar number of AU troops were abducted by Al-Shabab. There soldiers have been taken to an unknown destination.
►Nigeria’s Military: Boko Haram near Extinction
Nigeria’s military said its forces Tuesday retook from Boko Haram the economic and strategic town of Gamboru Ngala on the border with Cameroon. Nigerian Army Spokesman Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said the operation involved the air force and army. Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari, who was inaugurated in May this year, recently gave the military three months to neutralize the Islamist insurgent group.

►New Ebola death confirmed in Sierra Leone
A woman who recently died in northern Sierra Leone has tested positive for Ebola. It comes as a setback to the country's effort to eradicate the deadly disease. Sierra Leone was celebrating last week when it discharged its last known Ebola patient from hospital. News of the new case means the country is no longer Ebola-free. High-risk contacts of the woman have been identified, isolated and will now be watched for symptoms. The National Ebola Response Centre is assessing whether to isolate the whole village of Sella in the Kambia district where the woman, who was in her mid-60s, died.
►Spanish Police discovers migrant hidden behind car engine
A West African migrant entered the Spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco curled up next to a car engine and another was hidden behind the back seat of a Mercedes-300 car. Spanish police found the pair late on Sunday during a customs check at El Tarajal, near the Moroccan border. The two men from Guinea got first aid, having suffered from a lack of oxygen. Sub-Saharan Africans often try to enter Ceuta, as a gateway to the EU. The Mercedes 300 was found to have false number plates. Police detained two Moroccan men who were in the car when it was stopped.
