►EIFORCES graduate 36 officers
Some 36 police and gendarme officers have graduated from the International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES) in Yaoundé. They were urged to be ambassadors of peace wherever they go. The Minister for External Relations, Pierre Mokoko Mbonjo was speaking in Yaoundé yesterday September 2, 2015 at a ceremony to award end of course certificates to the young officers who had undergone a 5 and 10 months training course organized by the International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES).

►Experts advocate for efficient use of energy in public sector
The Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation in partnership with the National Committee for Technology Development (CNDT) has organised a two-day sensitisation workshop to discuss on measures of reducing energy waste in public buildings and seek better ways of inclusive energy by 2035. From September 1-2, 2015 in Yaoundé, the experts called on users of public buildings to adopt cost-cutting measures including turning off electrical appliances like computers, air conditioners and lighting systems when not in use.

►MINSANTE receives users’ guide from MINFOPRA
The Minister for Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda on September 1, 2015 received a users’ guide on administrative procedures for his ministry from the Ministry of Public Service. The 160 page users’ guide was elaborated by MINFOPRA to ensure quality services and guard against administrative blockages in the acquisition of services. At the moment, 21 Ministries are in possession of users’ guides from MINFOPRA. The innovation is amongst efforts to modernise practices in the public service.
►ELECAM: Close to 300,000 Cameroonians registered in 2015
Statistics from Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) indicate that about 286,733 voters have been registered on electoral lists in the country this 2015. The Director General of Elections, Abdoulaye Babale made the announcement during a press conference in Yaoundé at the end of ELECAM’s revision of electoral lists. Abdoulaye Babale remarked that the electoral lists would have been remarkably different if more women and children got registered.

►Cameroonian wins African Company Award
Cameroonian Alain Nteff, 23, has been awarded the Young African Company Award at the New York Forum Africa (NYFA) which took place in Libreville, the Gabonese capital on August 30, 2015. Alain Nteff received 50,000 euros, which is approximately 32.7 million FCFA to develop his GiftedMom project, which he revealed to the world in 2014. Named GiftedMom, Alain Nteff’s creation is an application through which SMS messages are sent to pregnant women in rural communities in order to remind them of the dates for their prenatal appointments at hospital.
►Mysterious python uncovered with list in belly
A mysterious python was killed in an office in the Delegation of Lands and Survey in Bamenda. The huge snake killed on September 1, 2015 reports say, had a piece of paper in its belly bearing names of seven staff of the delegation one of whom died and was buried last week. The Service Head, Kah Charles Nji whose name was also in the list says he found and killed the snake as early as 5:30am in his office.

►DR Congo's Bosco Ntaganda pleads not guilty at ICC trial
Former Congolese rebel leader Bosco Ntaganda has pleaded not guilty to all charges at the start of his war crimes trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague. The 18 charges include murder, rape and the recruitment of child soldiers. Evidence has been gathered from more than 2,000 alleged victims, including former child soldiers. Nicknamed "The Terminator", Gen Ntaganda's trial is the biggest and most complex case in the ICC's history. He fought for different rebel groups as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo's army.

►Trial of Former Chadian Leader to Resume Monday
The trial of former Chadian president Hissene Habré, which opened July 20 but was postponed two days later to enable his court-appointed lawyers to prepare his defense, will resume September 7 in Senegal.  Habre is accused of crimes against humanity, war crimes and torture between 1982 and 1990. But he insists the special tribunal set up for his trial is illegal.
