► Prison School Resumes Classes
Some 17 minors in the Douala New Bell Central Prison have resumed classes on September 10, 2015, in the presence of the representative of the Superintendent of the New Bell Prison and other officials. They are all pupils and students of the CHASOH Prison School, Douala. Though resuming after the official school reopening date, the children from nursery, secondary and high schools, joyfully received basic material including exercise books, pens and pencils from prison authorities, the Social Affairs Delegation and the President of the CHASOH charity.

►Devastating flood hits Babessi Sub Division
On September 14, 2015 a devastating flood rendered some inhabitants of Garri Quarter, Baba I, Babessi homeless. In an interview with the Fon of Baba I, HRH Fon Fuekemshi II of Baba, confirmed that about 100 persons were affected by the flood which damaged 35 houses. The SDO for Ngoketunjia visited the affected area and a commission is expected soon to assess the damages caused by the flood. The population is pointing accusing fingers at SATOM, the road construction company for poor drainage.

► PM receives Turkish Diplomat
The Turkish Ambassador who has come to the end of his diplomatic stay in Cameroon was at the Prime Minister’s office to say goodbye. During the over thirty minutes encounter, Ambassador Omer Faruk Dogan described his stay in Cameroon as a pleasant one saying he experienced the warmth of Cameroonians and the country’s rich cultural diversity. The Ambassador hailed economic relations with Cameroon especially in the domain of exports and imports. The Turkish Diplomat also used the audience to thank President Paul Biya for the visit he made to Turkey in March 2013.
► 2015 Hajj: Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi reassures pilgrims
The Minister for Territorial Administration and Decentralisation and Chairman of the National Hajj Commission, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, has reassured Cameroonian pilgrims that all has been put in place to ensure their smooth departure to Mecca for the 2015 Hajj. The Minister made this statement on September 14, 2015 in Yaoundé. Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi reassured the public that operations for the transportation of the pilgrims for the 2015 Hajj have effectively started with the Douala International Airport being the point of departure. He explained that six other flights have been scheduled with at least one on a daily basis until September 16, 2015.
► Second Generation Agriculture: Government set to raise funds
The Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development has opened a second phase of the National Business Plan in Yaounde, intended to raise more funds that will ensure the country’s agricultural potentials at international scene. Minister Essimi Menye officially opened the business forum on Monday September 14, 2015 in Yaoundé that was heavily attended by financial and technical partners. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said government is doing everything to ensure the modernisation of the agricultural sector intended to run from 2014-2020. The French Development Agency, C2D, European Union and the World Bank have already made a cumulative investment of FCFA 400 billion in a bid to accompany Cameroon in her modernisation project.

► All Africa Games: Lionesses crash Super Falcons to the final
The Indomitable Lionesses defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the semi-final of the 2015 All Africa Games women’s football event played at the Stade Municipal de Kintélé, Brazzaville in Congo yesterday. In the other semi-final, Ghana squeezed past Cote d’Ivoire by a lone goal to secure a place in the final. Nigeria will face Cote d’Ivoire in the third place match for bronze while Cameroon will take on Ghana in the final of the 11th edition of the All-Africa Games.

► Zimbabwe parliament suspends broadcast of President’s speech
Zimbabwe's parliament suspended live television and radio broadcasting of a speech by President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday after the main opposition party threatened to disrupt the event. Opposition groups booed and heckled Mugabe about the deteriorating economy in August during his state of the nation address in parliament. Innocent Gonese of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) told parliament that the MDC would disrupt proceedings to protest against anonymous death threats to opposition legislators if they heckled Mugabe again.

► Nigeria ministries get single bank account to fight fraud
A deadline for Nigerian government departments to ensure all financial transactions pass through a single bank account expires at the end of Tuesday. The move is intended to make it easier to monitor government spending and stamp out corruption. The account will be managed by the central bank and it is estimated that commercial banks will lose $10bn (£7bn) when the money is transferred. Departments that fail to comply by midnight (23:00) will face sanctions.
► Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe reads wrong speech
Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has read out the wrong speech at the opening of parliament. He gave the same one during his state-of-the-nation address on August 25, when he was heckled by opposition MPs. His spokesman told the state-run Herald paper the error was because of a mix-up in the president's secretarial office. Reports say tensions were high ahead of the speech and the state broadcaster cancelled its live feed fearing further disruptions.
