►Another twin suicide bombings in the Far North Region
About 20 people have been killed and more than 140 injured in a twin suicide bomb attack at Kiwawa in the Far North Region of the country. According to the Minister for Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary, yesterday’s suicide attack is blamed on the terrorist group Boko Haram. Speaking at a press briefing in Yaoundé, minister Tchiroma extended governments’ sympathy to the affected families promising that Cameroon’s defense forces would not relent in their mission of protecting Cameroonians and securing the country’s borders in the face of such attacks from Boko Haram.
►Vice Prime Minister at All African Games, Brazzaville
Designated by the Head of State, the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Amadou Ali is representing President Paul Biya at the opening ceremony of the 11th All African Games in Brazzaville Congo today September 4, 2015. More than 174 athletes are flying Cameroon’s flag at the games that will run through September 19, 2015.
► PCC Moderator begins working visit in Yaoundé
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Rt Rev Fonki Samuel today September 4, 2015 begins a three day pastoral visit to Yaoundé. During his stay in Yaoundé, he will on Sunday September 6, 2015 officiate at the induction ceremony of Rev Pastor Emmanuel Masock as the Parish Pastor of P C Bastos and the Presbyterian Secretary of the East Mungo North Presbytery.

►Iya Mohammed sentenced to 15 years in prison
The case pitting, former General Manager of the Cotton Development Corporation (SODECOTON) Iya Mohammed and the State of Cameroon ended yesterday at the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé. Iya Mohammed was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Similarly, Mahamat Karagama who was absent at this hearing, and Christophe Mbaiougam who is on the run were sentenced to life imprisonment. In addition, the above three will have to pay to SODECOTON FCFA 12,180 billion as damages. Meantime, Fotso Lucien, Pierre Jérôme and Kaptene Minlend were declared not guilty for lack of evidence of misappropriation of public funds by coercion.
►Transport Minister receives Out-going Turkish Ambassador
The Minister for Transport, Robert Nkili on September 3, 2015 granted an audience to the out-going Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Omer Faruk Dogan. During the close to one-hour farewell visit at the Minister’s cabinet, both men expressed gratitude for the fruits yielded from the bilateral ties between Cameroon and Turkey in the Transport sector. Minister Robert Nkili also highlighted the Ambassador’s contributions to the latest innovations at the Maroua airport during his three-year stay in Cameroon.

►Public Health Minister receives WHO Delegation
The Minister for Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda yesterday in Yaoundé granted audience to a delegation from the World Health Organisation (WHO). Headed by the coordinator for Social Health Protection, Claude Beyer, their discussions focused on the concept of Universal Health Coverage and its vision. The Universal Health Coverage involves collaborating with countries and supporting them in defining strategies and activities to progress towards Universal Health.
►Supreme State Audit: Minister Delegate grants audience to ADB’s Racine Kane
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit, Henri Eyebe Ayissi has received in audience the Resident Representative of the African Development Bank, Racine Kane. During the audience, Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi and his guest exchanged ideas on public expenditure and the ADB’s effort in improving the situation. Discussions also focused on the swearing-in of the new President of the ADB Group, Akinwuni Adesina from Nigeria. He was sworn in on September 1, 2015 in Abidjan.
►Floods in Maroua
Torrential rains in the Far North Region have caused flooding, leading to some material damage and interruption of the smooth flow of traffic along the major roads in the regional capital, Maroua. The situation has instilled panic in inhabitants of the region who fear the condition may worsen when the rainy season actually sets in later in the month of September. The floods have destroyed houses rendering many homeless and helpless. Even some agricultural produce was destroyed alongside plantations.

►Nigeria's President declares assets
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has declared he has $150,000 (£100,000) in his personal account, in a move aimed at promoting transparency and curbing corruption in government. The amount showed that he had been living a "Spartan lifestyle", his spokesman Garba Shehu said. Mr Buhari has five homes and two mud houses, as well as farms. The former military ruler was elected in March largely on a promise to tackle corruption and insecurity.

►Otto Pérez Molina ousted as Guatemala's President
Otto Pérez Molina, Guatemala's President on Thursday did not only resigned from his job as President but is also in custody. Guatemala's Attorney General issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for Pérez Molina in connection with a corruption investigation that has shaken the government and sparked protests. The 64-year-old former military commander responded by submitting his resignation, an offer that the country's Congress, by a 118-0 vote, accepted.
