TASTEs take on... CAMEROON movie industry and movie Awards... A Mockery or what?

The Cameroonian Film Industry has been going strong now for about 5 years and more… Yet we do not have a STAR! You know what I mean when I say STAR? Great acting, top qualities, that must be convincing in his or her role and accurately portray elements such as time and emotion to the audience. To be as successful in front of the camera or on stage, captivating, recognized by other nations like some Cameroon bloggers do for Nigerian and Ghanaian actors and actresses, a star actor, has a true commitment, show confidence, has sight, able to use his or her intelligence for role creation, possesses good physical skills, show a high degree of professionalism, has an innate talent, willing to work on performance techniques, has some sense of vanity, fluent in English, French and Pidgin English, comfortable in their skin and humble. You have to be or feign humility to last in showbiz.
I start wondering aloud about the various awards we have in the Cameroon movie industry to show case good acting, etc. The
Truth is movies are make-believe, and often times we want to see fantasy land – ideals and not be reminded about everyday life. So if you consider taking your acting career to new heights, follow the qualities I mentioned above, read motivating books, practice, practice, practice different acting techniques. If you think loud make-up and nice clothes will make you a star... Think again.
A SURGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE CAMEROON MOVIE AWARDS .
The Cameroon movie industry saw an upsurge in production and vitality spurred on by the buoyant Nollywood industry next door. Our film industry is a cauldron of confusion from actors, scenic views etc.; all culminating to mediocrity. In the USA we have Hollywood, in India Bollywood, etc. In Cameroon the names given to our movie industry are as many as our political parties, Camwood, Firewood, Callywood, Fireworks, Camerlywood, Kamwood, Collywood, Vallycoolwood and I don't know what, no different from the number of coaches we find in the national team. The Mediocre Cameroon film industry equally has its awards sponsored by persons of doubtful reputation. What criteria is put in place?, In the western world the box office plays a great part. In Cameroon we can not boast of a single movie theater; how many people buy dvds, etc. In the end it's hard to tell what name the Cameroon movie industry is known by.  In order for the Cameroon movie industry to be of a success, it has come under the same umbrella. All the division will not help the culture and the industry. The different camps in America, Europe and back in Cameroon base must unite as one industry. My opinion guys, what do you think?

  3. The francophones have a better understanding of what the film industry is all about, this has been harness and chiseled from the fespaco annual film festival in quadadougou in Mali.Great movies have been acted, "Tazibi" starring Josephine Ndanou, "Japheth et July" still with Josephine as the lead actor were master pieces. We had other movies from the other side of the moungo screening across all cinema halls in the country when we could still boast of them. We had great actors, some of blessed memory others out of the country for greener pastures. Mini series were not left out " le ophelin","Esola " with great acting n scenery worth watching.Resently ," le blanc de Eyenga" is a cameroon movie worth watch, beautiful story line. Girls looking for white husbands on the Internet. Before the Nigerian movie fever hit cameroon, precisely the English parts with "living in bondage " 1992, we had already watch "trial of passion" produced n starred by late Pungong with a host of other actors . Where did we go wrong! Now any "nobody " with a camera and a host of half baked actors produces anything and calls it a movie. In the Nigerian movie industry a sizable chunk of the actors have an acting pedigree. Do not get me wrong,we have natural actors, like child actors who with enough guidance n coaching become great actors in later life. In cameroon we have them, you see them in drama clubs, some doing it as part of their university studies. We need a fair amount of professionalism, not because you cover wedding n funeral ceremonies makes you a film producer,it's a different ball game. You watch a cameroon movie and you see the crew on the mirror. I know impossible is not Cameroonian!!!!!!!!!
